AMD is broadening its AM5 lineup by introducing two iGPU-less processors under the "Granite Ridge" series. These processors have been identified in retailer feeds, hinting at a potential launch in the near future. ShopBLT has listed the Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F. The Ryzen 7 9700F is an eight-core, 16-thread processor with a 65-watt TDP, priced at $294. On the other hand, the Ryzen 5 9500F is a six-core, 12-thread processor with a 65-watt TDP, priced at $218. These chips were previously mentioned in motherboard BIOS updates and benchmarking logs, and were anticipated to be released during the late summer period. While AMD has not officially confirmed any dates, the appearance of retail listings in September following an August forecast suggests that the company is nearing the announcement of availability. For users who do not require integrated graphics, these F variants provide the same core counts and thermal envelopes, relying on a discrete GPU instead. Retail availability is expected to emerge in the upcoming weeks.
The current pricing situation may be a bit unclear. Placeholder numbers are sometimes displayed in retail and distributor feeds, and initial listings may not always align with final street prices. For comparison, the 9700X is currently priced around $329, while six-core processors have been seen selling for under $200 in certain channels. Typically, F variants are priced lower than their iGPU-equipped counterparts, but the figures from ShopBLT do not yet offer a consistent view. In terms of performance, it is anticipated that the two F SKUs will match their non-F counterparts as the architectural configuration appears to be the same. Official AMD product pages and independent reviews are expected to provide more clarity soon, helping us determine if these new SKUs are a logical addition to the AM5 product lineup.
